In 2019, Chris and Karen Fodor embarked on a bold venture, establishing City & Country Winery in Calgary.
Defying traditional wine regions, they introduced a unique urban winery and tasting room to the city.
By sourcing premium grapes from renowned vineyards worldwide, including California, Oregon, and South Africa, they craft an array of red, white, and rosé wines right in Calgary.
Chris explains, "We can procure grapes from the northern hemisphere in October and from the southern hemisphere in April or May, allowing us to select the finest grapes with optimal flavors throughout the year."
Each wine is meticulously produced without added flavors, colors, or sugars, resulting in vegan and gluten-free offerings that highlight the grapes' natural essence.
Signature selections like the 2020 Okanagan Rosé present fruity, floral notes with subtle spice, while seasonal offerings such as mulled wine feature hints of cinnamon, orange peel, and star anise.
Beyond wine production, City & Country has become a vibrant community hub.
They host diverse events, including the annual Highfield Food & Beverage Market Fest, showcasing local vendors and culinary delights.
Upcoming events include a Halloween Candy & Wine Pairing with Costume Contest on October 30, 2025, and the 5th Annual Christmas Concert on December 5, 2025, featuring live performances of cherished holiday classics.
Located at 544 38A Avenue SE, City & Country Winery invites both seasoned wine enthusiasts and newcomers to explore their diverse offerings.
